Decay & Despair is the most recent of her projects which centre around unemployment in ex-coal mining communities. During her research into this field, she has interviewed many ex-coal miners who are still suffering unemployment years after the pits closed. Some of the highest male suicide rates exist in these areas due to the economic battle, yet the governments over the years have still failed to acknowledge this plight. Through her work she expresses the pain, inner torment and sense of loss which individuals feel as they struggle to regain their identity.
